Production in Bina refinery to begin April next year
Work is nearing completion for this six MMTPA (metric million tonnes per annum) capacity project.
"Around 96 per cent work of the refinery is complete while the remaining is expected to be done within three or four months following which production will start from April next year," sources said.
The remaining work in the Refinery, relates to development of a 99 MW Captive Congregation Power Plant (CCPP) in the refinery, for which reactors imported from China have already reached Kandla Port in Gujarat and are expected to reach the project site in a couple of days, they said.
After installation of these reactors, the preparations for production of petroleum products on experimental basis would begin in the refinery, the sources said.
Bina Refinery is being set up by the Bharat-Oman Refinery Limited (BORL), a joint venture company formed by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Oman Oil Company Limited (OOCL) in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh.
Built at an estimated cost of Rs 10,378 crore, Bina Refinery is the first crude oil refinery in Madhya Pradesh and an expenditure of nearly Rs 8,500 crore has been incurred in its installation so far, sources said.
