ONGC boosts gas supplies from Hazira
State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has boosted gas supplies from its flood-hit Hazira complex in Gujarat to almost 45 per cent of its normal daily capacity of 40 million cubic metres, company chairman R S Sharma said today.

NEW DELHI: State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has boosted gas supplies from its flood-hit Hazira complex in Gujarat to almost 45 per cent of its normal daily capacity of 40 million cubic metres, company chairman R S Sharma said today.
ONGC raised daily supply to 18 million standard cubic meters per day on August 26. It had resumed gas supply on August 19 after a two-week shutdown due to flooding.
"We plan to restore normal supplies by the second week of September," Sharma told PTI here.
ONGC resumed gas supply of 6 mmscmd on August 19, two days ahead of schedule. It than boosted the supplies to 12 mmscmd on August 21.
As per the plans, gas supplies would be raised to 23 mmscmd by September 2, to 28 mmscmd by September 7, 33 mmscmd by September 9 and to full capacity 40 mmscmd by September 12.
The Hazira complex was shut down on August 7, after floodwater entered a key gas plant, halting two-thirds of India's domestic natural gas output.
Hazira plant supplies gas to more than 18 downstream industries through HVJ pipeline of GAIL.
The shutdown of the plant, which received 40.5 mmscmd gas from ONGC's Bassein and B-55 fields and ONGC-Reliance-BG operated Panna/Mukta and Tapti fields, cost ONGC Rs 21 crore in revenues and Rs 16-17 crore in profits per day.
"Preliminary estimates put the revenue loss during the entire shutdown period at about Rs 500 crore and profit loss at over Rs 200 crore," Sharma said.
