Oil PSU officers threaten strike from Dec 2 over wages issue
Unhappy over the hike in wages announced by the Government, executives of oil PSUs on Tuesday threatened to go on an indefinite strike from December 2.
"We will be happy if the government gives us a 100 per cent increase in our pay-scales," Oil Sector Officers Association (OSOA) President Amit Kumar told reporters here.
The government, he said, had announced a 30 per cent hike in pay-scales, and another 30-40 per cent increase was announced in incentives.
But this hike was not enough for OSOA, a body that claims to represent 55,000 executives of 14 oil PSUs.
However, government officials questioned OSOA's motive saying, "In times of global economic downturn, when employees are being retrenched and salaries cut, the hike announced was the best government could do."
A strike by officers may cripple fuel supplies and impact oil and gas production.
