OIL, Arunachal Pradesh govt to lay 60 km gas pipeline

Oil India Ltd (OIL) is engaged in parleys with the Arunachal Pradesh government for laying a 60 km gas pipeline from Changlang district in state to Doomdooma in Assam.

GUWAHATI: Oil India Ltd (OIL) is engaged in parleys with the Arunachal Pradesh government for laying a 60 km gas pipeline from Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh to Doomdooma in Tinsukia district of Upper Assam.

Senior officials of the company held discussions with state chief minister Dorjee Khandu on Thursday. The proposed pipeline will carry the gas which is otherwise flared up. The state exchequer is slated to earn a revenue from the pipeline project.

OIL sources added, "The cost of the project is around Rs 20 crore. The pipeline will be laid between Kumchai to Doomdooma via Namsai and Mahadevpur."

Sources added: The company is planning to use the gas for supplying piped gas. Assam Gas Company Ltd will lay the pipeline. Presently for want of pipeline gas gets flared up every day.
