Numaligarh Refinery ramps up capacity of LPG bottling plant

AGARTALA: Assam-based Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has ramped up the capacity of its LPG bottling plant from 10 to 42 TMTPA (thousand metric tonnes per annum).

According to NRL, with augmentation of its LPG bottling facility it would now be able to contribute significantly towards Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY), the flagship scheme of the Government of India which endeavours to provide clean fuel by way of LPG cylinders to BPL households and improves health of women through smokeless kitchens.

The company stated earlier that it had replaced semi-automatic carousel system by an electronic carousel system, which has less manual involvement and is more advanced in meeting accuracy and stringent quality and quantity parameters.


NRL stated, “Neighbouring villages located in NRL’s vicinity viz. Napathar and Gandhigaon have already been transformed into ‘smokeless villages’ by the Company under its CSR program in consonance with the scheme.
