The government on Thursday said domestic LPG supply has been maintained at 100 per cent despite the ongoing West Asia crisis, with no dry-outs reported across the country, even as panic buying has been observed at some locations.

Ministry of Petroleum Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma said online LPG bookings have increased to nearly 98 per cent and operations at retail outlets remain normal. She added that more than 43,000 PNG consumers have voluntarily surrendered their LPG connections.

"Oil marketing companies are taking all necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted supply at all retail outlets. Through you, I would like to appeal to the public to avoid panic buying and purchase only as per their actual requirements," Sharma said.

The Ministry said it is in constant touch with state governments over the panic booking being observed at some locations.

On fertiliser supply, Additional Secretary of the Department of Fertilizers Aparna Sharma said availability remains robust, with current stocks at 193.38 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) against a Kharif 2026 requirement of 390.54 LMT — approximately 50 per cent of the seasonal requirement already in stock.

"This reflects improved planning, advanced stocking, and efficient logistics managed by the government. The supply position continues to be strong in the states," she said. The department has also secured around 37 LMT through a global tender to meet any shortfall.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Additional Secretary Mukesh Mangal said all Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf are safe and no incident involving Indian-flagged vessels has been reported in the last 24 hours.
