Mukherjee meets Arab League chief
Indian External Affairs Minister today met Arab League chief and discussed issue of rising oil prices, situation in the Middle-East and the Indo-Pak dialogue.
At a meeting that lasted for nearly an hour, the two leaders who have known each other from the past spoke on the food crises being felt globally.
Mukherjee briefed Moussa, who was Egypt's Foreign Minister for a decade till 2001, on his talks with the leadership in Cairo, including president Hosni Mubarak during his three-day visit.
Mukherjee told Moussa, who was elected the Arab League's Secretary-General in 2001, about the situation in South Asia, the improvement in ties between India and Pakistan and the progress in the Composite Dialogue.
Moussa, who was Egypt's ambassador in New Delhi in 1967, briefed the Indian minister on the Israel-Palestinian conflict and its effect in the region.
The two leaders also discussed the situation in war-torn Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.
