L&T wins ultra-mega Middle East gas project worth over ₹15,000 crore

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said it signed an ultra-mega contract worth more than ₹15,000 crore to build gas compression facilities and related infrastructure for a client in the Middle East. The project was awarded through a letter of award issued in FY26.

L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore (LTEH Onshore) will execute the project on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis. The facilities will be developed for new onshore installations to process sour gas.

L&T's shares were trading at Rs 4100.00 apiece on the BSE as of 9.55 AM on Monday.

What L&T will build

The project includes gas inlet facilities, gas compression systems, condensate and produced water handling systems, propane refrigeration systems and associated utilities.

To meet the power requirements of the gas compression plants, L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution business will execute two 230 kV extra-high-voltage substations.

L&T classifies orders worth more than ₹15,000 crore as “ultra-mega”. The company did not disclose the exact value of the contract or the name of the Middle East client.

Commenting on the project, E S Sathyanarayanan, Senior Vice President & Head of L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore, said: “The contract marks the start of a strategically important project that will add significant gas compression capacity and utility infrastructure. The project draws on our extensive experience in executing large and complex hydrocarbon facilities and reinforces our capability to deliver integrated solutions for challenging sour gas applications”.

L&T’s hydrocarbon push

LTEH Onshore is one of L&T’s largest EPC businesses, providing lump-sum turnkey solutions across the upstream, midstream and downstream hydrocarbon sectors.

The business has executed refinery expansions, petrochemical complexes, gas processing plants, fertiliser plants, LNG terminals and cross-country pipelines across different geographies.

The latest project combines L&T’s hydrocarbon EPC capabilities with its power transmission and distribution business, with the latter responsible for the two high-voltage substations.
