Kerala government sets up committee to resolve issues connected with LPG

Regional Labour Commissioner, Public Distribution Director and representatives of three oil companies will be the members of the committee.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala government has decided to constitute a committee with Labour Commissioner as convener to resolve issues connected with distribution of LPG in the state.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here today. The meeting was called in the wake of frequent disruption in supply of LPG due to labour strikes.

The Committee would submit the report indicating the ways of resolving the issues in distribution of LPG and code of conduct needed in this sector within a month, an official release said.

Regional Labour Commissioner, Public Distribution Director and representatives of three oil companies will be the members of the committee.

Speaking at the meeting, Chandy said 98 per cent of families depend on LPG. The issues in the distribution sector are creating a huge amount of problems to the people.

"Government has taken the issue very seriously', he said. He also wanted steps to avoid flash strikes that adversely affect the LPG supply.
