Jindal Power gets nod for 2,400-mw power plant
Jindal Power Ltd on Tuesday said it received final regulatory approval for setting up a 2,400-mw power project at Tamnar in Chhattisgarh.
Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board on Tuesday granted consent to establish the 2400-mw project, the company said in a statement.
Construction work would soon begin on the project that was targeted to be operational by March 2012. The project has been delayed by over one and half years due to delay in securing environmental clearances, the statement said.
The union environment ministry granted clearance for two units of 600 mw each of the project in March and for balance two units of 600 MW in November. The coal ministry has also communicated its permission for the project to Chhattisgarh government.
The 2,400-mw project is being set up as an expansion to the company’s existing 1,000-mw power project at Tamnar.
Jindal Power had placed equipment orders for the expansion project on BHEL in early 2009. Financial closure for the 2,400-mw project was achieved in March last year. The coal ministry had approved linkage for 2 units of 600 mw each on January 2010.
