RANCHI: The Jharkhand industries department is planning to tie up with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) for selling handloom, handicrafts and silk products, using the company's petrol pump network.

According to the arrangment, HPCL will provide space to Jharcraft, the marketing agency of the department, at their pumps, at a subsidised rate.

"HPCL will provide space at 18 locations in Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Chandigarh and Delhi. HPCL has asked us to give the names of the locations where we propose to put up our outlets," said Dhirendra Kumar, MD, Jharcraft.

These outlets will have handicrafts, handloom and silk products made by weavers and artisans of Jharkhand. The step, said Mr Kumar, will not only bring businees to the state but also provide a market for weavers and artisans.

These products are being marketed by Jharcraft through its six outlets in Delhi and one each in Ranchi and Bangalore. Jharcraft has also tied up with Murarka Organic Pvt Ltd, Needle Point and Alenkrita Associates for marketing products in the US and the UK.
