IOC saves 24,000 tonne fuel in refineries

State-run Indian Oil Corp (IOC) on Thursday said it has made savings on fuel by implementing various energy optimisation and hydrocarbon loss minimising system at its refineries.

NEW DELHI: State-run Indian Oil Corp (IOC) on Thursday said it has made savings on fuel by implementing various energy optimisation and hydrocarbon loss minimising system at its refineries.
Fuel savings of around 24,000 tonnes valued at about Rs 39 crore was done in 2006-07, IOC said in a release here.
IOC Director (Refineries) B N Bankapur said fuel savings also contribute to reduction in emission of carbon dioxide, which leads of reduction in global warming.
"At IOC, the emphasis is on energy optimisation in all activities and at all stages, right from process selection, design, engineering, commissioning, operation and maintenance," he added.
