Indraprastha Gas Ltd to hike CNG prices by 0.20/kg in NCR at midnight tonight
Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) on Monday announced a minor increase in the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
"The adjustment in price would result in a marginal increase of Rs 0.20 per kg in the consumer price of CNG in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad," IGL said in a press statement issued here.
The new consumer price of Rs 30.00 per kg in Delhi and Rs 33.60 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be effective from midnight tonight.
Explaining the reasons for the revision in the price of CNG, IGL Managing Director Rajesh Vedvyas said: "This minor adjustment in CNG price has been necessitated due to the increase in operational expenses, primarily because of the recent increase in minimum wages announced by the government."
He added that this increase would have negligible impact on the per kilometre running cost of vehicles and despite the aforesaid prices increase, CNG would still offer over a 66 per cent saving on the running cost when compared to petrol-driven vehicles at the current level of prices.
When compared to diesel-driven vehicles, the economics are also in favour of CNG, as the differential at the revised price would be over 27 per cent.
