New Delhi: Petrol and diesel sales rose 7.2% and 4.9%, respectively, year-on-year in September, while aviation turbine fuel (ATF) sales were flat and LPG sales fell 9%, according to oil ministry data.

Higher vehicle sales supported petrol consumption, while below-normal monsoon rainfall boosted diesel use for irrigation. Increased economic activity also contributed to higher diesel demand for mobility.

Flat ATF sales point to subdued growth in air traffic. LPG consumption, predominantly used for cooking in India, fell in September, extending a decline that began after the war disrupted supplies.
