State-run IndianOil on Saturday moved yet again to reassure citizens about the availability of essential fuels, stating that petrol, diesel and LPG supplies remain adequate across the country despite global uncertainties.

The company stressed that it is closely monitoring the distribution network and taking necessary steps to curb hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders amid the crisis caused by the ongoing West Asia conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

In a public advisory, IndianOil urged consumers not to engage in panic buying or place unnecessary LPG bookings, stressing that supply lines remain stable.

"At IndianOil, we are ensuring adequate availability of Petrol, Diesel and LPG across the country. Necessary actions are being taken to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders, with continuous monitoring across the supply network. Citizens are advised not to panic buy fuels or make unnecessary LPG bookings and to rely only on official sources for correct information," the oil giant said in a statement on X.

India takes measures

The assurance comes against the backdrop of disruptions in global oil supply routes due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the oil ministry, Indian refiners have proactively secured crude oil supplies for the coming months, including renewed purchases from Iran after a gap of several years.

India, the world’s third-largest importer and consumer of crude oil, has diversified its sourcing strategy, procuring oil from over 40 countries to ensure energy security.

Officials told Reuters that refiners have full flexibility to tap multiple geographies based on commercial viability, helping cushion the impact of geopolitical volatility.

The ministry also confirmed that India recently imported a consignment of Iranian LPG, which has already reached the western port of Mangalore and is being discharged. The move follows a temporary easing of U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil exports, aimed at stabilising global supply.

Authorities maintain that, despite external pressures, domestic fuel availability remains unaffected, with coordinated efforts underway to ensure seamless distribution and prevent any artificial shortages.
