India offers expertise in laying oil & gas pipelines & power transmission lines to ASEAN countries

Minister of state for petroleum & natural gas RPN Singh offered to share India's expertise in laying oil and gas pipelines and power transmission lines with ASEAN countries at his ministerial address in Cambodia.

Singh also discussed investment opportunities with energy ministers of Malaysia, Brunei, Myanmar and Indonesia on the sidelines of the 30th ASEAN Energy Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM), oil ministry said in a statement.

Singh underlined the need for energy security, energy conservation and closer integration of energy markets at AMEM and stressed on close economic ties among East Asian countries as they together consumed over 50% of world's energy, it said.

India's petroleum sector offers investment opportunities under New Exploration Licensing Policy (Nelp), petrochemical complexes in Dahej and Mangalore, LNG import and regasification terminals at Kochi and Ennore and mapping and development of shale gas reserves, he told at the meeting.

He highlighted achievement of the country in reducing vehicular pollution with introduction of BS-III (Euro-III) and BS-IV (EURO-IV) fuels and increasing use of natural gas in the automobile sector, the statement said.
