IBS ties up with Oman petro co
Travel, transportation and logistics solutions and consultancy major IBS has tied up with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to automate and manage the movement of personnel to and from off shore oil rigs.
IBS officials said the automation system would cover movement of people over air, land and sea as well as optimum utilization of the transportation fleet. They said that in an industry like petroleum, marked by huge costs of operation, even a momentary disruption of work can have far-reaching impact, and that iLogistics would avoid work hold-up by ensuring timely and optimal supply of resources at offshore platforms.
They said IBS' solution would streamline and centralize transportation management processes across PDO operations, to achieve increased productivity, reduced costs, higher return on both assets and investments and improved transportation safety management.
IBS officials said PDO accounted for more than 70 per cent of Oman's crude-oil production and nearly all of its natural gas supply, with the government of Oman holding a majority stake in the company.
