Haryana to encourage use of unconventional sources of energy

In order to encourage the people to use unconventional sources of energy, the Haryana Government has introduced a scheme for providing subsidy on the installation of solar water heaters to the Haryana residents.

CHANDIGARH: In order to encourage the people to use unconventional sources of energy, the Haryana Government has introduced a scheme for providing subsidy on the installation of solar water heaters to the Haryana residents and the State Government employees living in the city.

Stating this here today, a spokesman of the Renewable Energy Department said that under the scheme a subsidy of Rs. five thousand for 100 litres and Rs 10,000 for 200 litres would be given to those who would opt to install these systems.

He said that another scheme had also been initiated for providing hundred per cent financial assistance for installation of solar water heating systems in non-profit registered social institutions such as orphanage, old age homes, working women hostels, juvenile homes, crhches, nari niketens, hostels, hostels for scheduled castes and weaker section students.

He said that a special project for installation of solar water heating systems, SPV street lighting systems, dish type solar cookers, solar stream cooking systems and SPV power plant with a total cost of about Rs. 143 lakh in the training hostels, libraries, museums, auditoriums, officers residences and hospitals of Haryana Police Academy was also in the process.

He said that awards had been instituted to provide incentives to gram panchayats for doing commendable work in promotion of Renewable energy programmes in their villages. Further, a Rajiv Gandhi State Level Renewable Energy Education Park was also set up at a cost of Rs. 1.5 crore in Gurgaon.
