Guj govt to cooperate in Dahej-Uran pipeline work

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has promised that his government will extend all cooperation in completion of work on the Dahej-Uran gas pipeline in Surat district.

MUMBAI: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has promised that his government will extend all cooperation in completion of work on the Dahej-Uran gas pipeline in Surat district.
Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde informed this by phone to Maharastra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, an official release said here today. Shinde and Deshmukh had requested Modi to extend cooperation for completion of the 12 km stretch of the pipeline, which would supply gas to the Dabhol power project, the release said.
Following Modi's promise to cooperate in completion of the pipeline work, the pipeline would be completed as per schedule and Dabhol project would generate 2100 MW power by December end, it said. Gujarat Government's stance on the pipeline has evoked strong reactions from ruling Congress and NCP. NCP workers yesterday burnt Modi's effigy here.
MPCC spokesperson Husain Dalwai had accused Modi of working against the federal spirit of the country. Another MPCC spokesperson Anant Gadgil, today reminded Modi of the cooperation extended by Maharashtra to Gujarat over the last several years, since inception of that state. "When Gujarat needed Rs two crore, the then Maharashtra chief minister Y B Chavan gave it Rs 10 crore", Gadgil said.
