Govt extends oil, gas block bid deadline to December 31

The government has once again extended the deadline for submitting bids under the latest oil and gas block auction, giving potential investors two more months to participate, according to the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH).

The bid submission deadline for the 10th round of the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP-X) — the largest acreage offering so far — has now been pushed to December 31, 2025, the DGH announced on its website.

The OALP-X round was launched in February 2025 during India Energy Week in New Delhi, with the initial deadline set for the end of July. It was later extended to October 31, and this is now the second extension.'


The OALP framework allows companies to carve out and bid for oil and gas exploration blocks of their choice throughout the year, with periodic bid rounds conducted by the government. The latest extension is expected to give companies more time to assess geological data and finalise investment decisions.
