Govt approves 3 biogas power projects for Haryana

The Centre has approved setting up of three biogas power projects for 1,300 KW in three districts of Haryana.

CHANDIGARH: The Centre has approved setting up of three biogas power projects for 1,300 KW in three districts of Haryana - Karnal, Sirsa and Sonepat and sanctioned Rs 30.20 lakh for the purpose, an official spokesperson said here on Friday.
The Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) had motivated seven industries, including three food processing industries, to adopt the biomass gasification technology to meet their captive thermal and electrical requirements.
The proposal for the same had been forwarded to the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for financial assistance.
The Centre has sanctioned two projects for setting up of 500 kw biomass gasifiers at Maxrich Foods Private Ltd in the Nagla village of Karnal and Lamba Food Products in the Rai village of Sonipat and sanctioned Rs 3.33 lakh for each.
A third biomass gasifier of 300 KW would be set up in Sirsa for which Rs two was sanctioned.
