Government restores non-domestic LPG supplies to pre-crisis levels
India has restored non-domestic packed LPG supplies to their pre-crisis levels. This welcome development follows a significant improvement in the country's overall LPG availability, ensuring commercial users can once again rely on normal cylinder ...
The government said the move follows a recent easing in supply conditions, allowing normal distribution of non-domestic packed LPG to resume across sectors.
The decision marks a further relaxation of emergency measures introduced during the West Asia crisis, which had prompted authorities to prioritise supplies and manage distribution amid concerns over potential disruptions to imports and logistics.

The restoration comes after the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry has repeatedly assured that India's petroleum and LPG supply situation remained fully secure and under control despite tensions in West Asia. The ministry said there was no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG in the country and dismissed social media reports suggesting otherwise as a coordinated misinformation campaign.
The ministry said earlier that domestic refinery production of LPG had been increased by 40%, lifting daily output to about 50 thousand metric tonnes, while import requirements had fallen. It added that 800 thousand metric tonnes of LPG cargoes from suppliers including the United States, Russia and Australia had already been secured and were en route to India.
According to the ministry, oil marketing companies continue to deliver more than 50 lakh LPG cylinders a day, while demand that had briefly surged due to panic ordering has returned to normal levels.
