GAIL plans CNG distribution in AP

GAIL plans to take up distribution of Compressed Natural Gas in Andhra Pradesh.

RAJAHMUNDRY: Gas Authority of India Limited is planning to take up distribution of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) on a large scale in Andhra Pradesh, Chairman and Manging Director GAIL, U D Choubey said.

Choubey, who was in the town to visit the Krishna-Godavari Basin on Saturday, told mediapersons that GAIL would provide technology to RIL, GSPC, ONGC and Cairn Energy to find the gas in the Godavari Basin.

GAIL pipeline system could help them transport gas from all available sources, he said.

"We have entered into a MoU with ONGC and Reliance for cooperation in transport of natural gas from different sources in KG Basin and Mahanandi Basin through their pipelines," Choubey said.

KG Basin gas would make Kakinada-Rajahmundry Zone as Henry Hub of India, he added.

The Centre had authorized GAIL to install pipeline between Jagadishpur-Haldia, Kochi-Kanjirkod-Mangalore-Bangalore, Dabhol-Bangalore, Dadri-Bawana Nagal and Chainsa-Gurgaon-Jhajjar-Hissar, he said.
