Gail India Ltd on Thursday said it has launched an emergency response vehicle (ERV) to handle natural gas pipeline accidents throughout the city gas pipeline network of Delhi.

MUMBAI: Gail India Ltd on Thursday said it has launched an emergency response vehicle (ERV) to handle natural gas pipeline accidents throughout the city gas pipeline network of Delhi.

The company has also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) for mutual cooperation in tackling emergencies, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The ERV has got the latest tools and equipment to perform various functions ranging from making the accident site accessible and providing rescue, repair and maintenance, it added.

The ERV can work continuously for days at a stretch and also has the capacity to empower handling of accidents at the oddest of locations, it said.

It has a specially designed air conditioned crew cab with all the amenities that the crew would require while responding to such emergency situations.

The Regional Gas Management Centre (RGMC) of GAIL for the NCR region would be the contact point in case of any emergency and its phone numbers are 43542330 and 23378430.

The share of the company closed at Rs 235.75, up 3.47 per cent on the BSE.
