NEW DELHI: The Gas Authority of India today donated three CNG propelled pick-up vehicles to the city government to help it distribute cooked food to the homeless people under its ' Aap Ki Rasoi' programme.

The programme, part of government's Bhagidari initiative, was launched in 2008 with an aim to providing nutritious meal to the destitute people.

Currently, 13 'Aap Ki Rasoi' centres are functioning in various parts of the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said her government was keen to increase the number of such centres soon so that maximum number of destitute people could be provided meal during lunch time.

Dikshit later handed over the vehicles to ISKON, which had entered into an agreement with the government to manage some of the food distribution centres.

She also thanked GAIL for its help, saying it will go a long way in inspiring others to follow.
