Eyes bigger Nelp-VII play

GAIL (India) is keen to assume a broader role in the New Exploration & Licensing Policy-VII (NELP-VII).

It has decided to participate in NELP-VII as an operator instead of picking up smaller stakes in blocks being offered by the government.

If anything, the move underscores the gas transmission company’s seriousness to be a significant player in the exploration and production space.

“We’ve decided to bid for the role of operator in NELP-VII. Our bids will be restricted to onland and smaller blocks,” Gail (India) chairman and managing director UD Choubey said.
