Energy giant Chevron is anticipated to announce the expansion of its operations in Venezuela, a US official told AP on Tuesday.

According to the official, the corporation’s officials and its Energy Secretary Chris Wright are bound to visit Venezuela on Wednesday to unveil new investments.

The official spoke under condition of anonymity under ground rules set by the White House for the call.


The announcement came following Washington confirming on Monday its partnership with North American Blue Energy Partners as part of US President Donald Trump’s initiative to utilise Venezuela’s oil production.
