Cairn gets govt nod for new delivery points

The Centre has approved the establishment of new delivery points for Cairn India’s Barmer crude at Radhanpur and Viramgam in Gujarat.

KOLKATA: The Centre has approved the establishment of new delivery points for Cairn India’s Barmer crude at Radhanpur and Viramgam in Gujarat.

The crude will be sold to IOC’s Panipat and Koyali refineries. An additional delivery point will be at the Kandla port for meeting the crude requirements of MRPL and other coastal refineries.

Delivery points are locations where Cairn India will initially supply crude to the oil refining companies by tankers, and eventually through the pipeline that it is building.

These delivery points are expected to remain operational till the proposed pipeline for transporting Barmer crude from the Mangala Processing Terminal (MPT) to Bhogat in Gujarat is operational.

The development is significant since establishment of delivery points by the government allows oil-producing companies to levy transportation costs, which isn’t always the case.
