MUMBAI: With the state reeling under the energy crisis, energy management has become a priority for households and corporates. Mumbai-based systems integrator Allied Digital may have the answer.

The company has tied up with US-based Echelon to provide energy solutions for the realty market in India. The Lonworks technology provides networking of devices like pumps, thermostats and lights allowing products from a multitude of manufacturers to be integrated into a single open system.

Although Echelon will not invest in the partnership, it will provide technological support. Kenneth Oshman, chairman, Echelon, said as global players in the networking technology, Echelon is looking at India as a potential market. “While there are other players doing similar work, most are proprietary solutions providers. We will provide the same on open standards, which means interoperability amongst manufacturers,” he said.

Lonworks systems operate in thousands of buildings worldwide with 60m devices installed, he added. “We hope to target players like Reliance Retail to offer them a centralised operating centre for energy management. As developers are looking at towers and luxury hi-end developments, this technology is best suited to provide for minimum energy consumption,” said Nitin Shah, CMD, Allied Digital.
