Accidental fire in OIL pipeline

An Oil India Limited (OIL) pipeline at Geleki field in this upper Assam district caught fire accidentally on Monday causing oil spill.

SIBSAGAR: An Oil India Limited (OIL) pipeline at Geleki field in this upper Assam district caught fire accidentally on Monday causing oil spill.

A security officer of OIL said the fire, which originated from the pump house of the oil field, was accidental and could be due to short circuit.

The police have ruled out sabotage by militants. The officer said there was oil spill in the area but firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within an hour.

There was no report of any loss to life or property.
