Energy Education Park set up in Puducherry

An official release today said the purpose of the park was to provide play way method of education on importance of energy, different types of energy, their renewable sources and generation technologies. The park has been set up on the precincts of the Puducherry Science Centre cum Planetarium.
The park, which was inaugurated yesterday by Chief Minister N Rangasamy, has been set up in association with the Renewable Energy Agency Puducherry at a cost of Rs 2 crore and the cost of the project has been equally shared by the Central Ministry and Puducherry government, the release said.
The park consists of an exhibition hall for indoor exhibits, a lush green landscaping for outdoor exhibits. The exhibition hall has been designed as a green building which utilises the natural sources for lighting and cooling.
Puducherry government has planned to establish a training centre in the exhibition hall to impart hands on training to the students of Industrial Training Institutes and Polytechnics to bring to focus the importance of sustainable energy.
