Sobha Group to give away 1000 homes to women-led underprivileged families in Kerala

In a heartening display of compassion and dedication to social progress, the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust, spearheaded by PNC Menon and Sobha Menon, celebrated a significant achievement with the inauguration of the Sobha Community Home Project – Griha Sobha 2024. This initiative by the SOBHA Group aims to furnish secure and safe homes to underprivileged families, with a particular focus on households led by women. The project sets an ambitious goal of constructing 1000 homes for women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by 2030. These homes, each featuring two bedrooms and spanning 700 square feet, are being erected with a budget of Rs 18 lakh. The selection process is rigorous, prioritising women-headed families grappling with challenges such as widowhood or the responsibility of caring for dependents.

During the recent inauguration ceremony held on March 9, 2024, the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust presented the keys for the first set of 100 homes to the beneficiaries, completely free of charge. The event also witnessed the laying of the foundation stone for an additional 120 homes, reaffirming the Trust's commitment to fulfilling its promise. PNC Menon, Founder of SOBHA Group, a visionary, and the driving force behind Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust, emphasised the transformative power of a home, stating, "A home is more than just a shelter; it's a foundation for a better life." He reiterated the Trust's dedication to holistic social development, beginning with the provision of housing security.

The ceremony witnessed the gracious presence of esteemed dignitaries including the Governor of West Bengal, H.E. Dr CV Ananda Bose who addressed the attendees virtually. Also in attendance were State Ministers, MLAs, MPs, and leaders from various political factions signifying the collective commitment towards social welfare and community development.
