Berger Paints to set up Rs 50-cr plant in Pune
Berger Paints India has decided to set up an automotive paints plant in Pune for a cost of Rs 50 crore. Automotive paints have a 30 per cent share in the Rs 11,000-crore domestic paints market.
Berger Paints is also looking to acquire companies in emerging markets like Russia, China, Brazil and across eastern Europe to expand its global footprint.
Talking on the sidelines of the company’s AGM, managing director Subir Bose said: “The upcoming Pune plant will be able to manufacture 800 kilolitres of automotive paint per month.
At present, our existing automotive paints production capacity is 600 kilolitres per month and contributes 24 per cent of our total sales. The automobile sector in the country is showing a significant growth and we want to become a part of that growth story.”
