USL's Whyte and Mackay launches malt whiskey in Taipei

MUMBAI: Whyte and Mackay, a subsidiary of Vijay Mallya's United Spirits Ltd today opened its branch office in Taipei to unveil its luxury Dalmore range of single malt whiskies.
The launch has been timed to take advantage of the traditional boom in sales of luxury goods during the Chinese New Year in February.
Taiwan is the world's second largest market for premium malt whiskies with an estimated size of 6,00,000 cases annually.
Whyte and Mackay has appointed Philip Wang as Sales Director who previously served Moet Hennessy and Diageo for a cumulative 20 years.
The Dalmore range of luxury malts will be priced at a premium of 15 per cent over the existing brands.
One bottle of the super luxury 64-year-old Dalmore will be auctioned at a reserve price of USD 2,00,000, United Spirits Ltd Vijay Mallya Chairman in a release here today.
"We acquired liquid gold in the form of matured whisky stocks in the acquisition of Whyte and Mackay. We are now focussed on using these precious stocks to promote our luxury brands in key growth markets".
