Tilaknagar Industries inks pact with Mohan Breweries and Distilleries Ltd for two brands

NEW DELHI: Liquor maker Tilaknagar Industries today said it has signed an agreement with Chennai-based Mohan Breweries and Distilleries Ltd (MBDL) to manufacture and sell the latter's two brands for 25 years.

Under the terms of the agreement, Tilaknagar Industries will be utilising MBDL's manufacturing and bottling facilities to produce and market the 'Brigadier's No 1 Brandy' and 'Vorion No 1' brandy, Tilaknagar Industries (TI) said in a statement.

Commenting on the development TI Chairman and Managing Director Amit Dahanukar said the move will help the company enhance its exposure to high growth markets such as Tamil Nadu.

"Given TI's distinctive knowhow, proven business strategies and experience, we are confident of creating a winning combination with MBDL to unlock the potential in the region," he added.

The two brands--'Brigadier's No 1 Brandy' and 'Vorion No 1', together had posted total volumes of 3.20 million cases for the year ended March 31, 2013.

Tilaknagar Industries manufactures and markets more than 40 brands of whisky, brandy, gin, rum and vodka across various domestic and international markets including Western Africa and Middle East.

Shares of Tilaknagar Industries were trading at Rs 60.75 on the BSE in late afternoon trade, up 0.91 per cent from its previous close.
