Sale of foreign liquor on increase in Kerala
Sale of foreign liquor in Kerala has touched an all time high of Rs 3669.14 crore in the last fiscal, an increase of Rs 526 crore over 2006-07, with total consumption at around 148 lakh cases.
Apart from this, beer sales have also shown a steady increase, with 58.62 lakh cases worth Rs.326 crore sold in 2007-08, Kerala State Beverages Corporation Managing Director N Shankar Reddy told PTI here.
The Corporation is the sole marketing agency for foreign liquor in Kerala.
Reddy said beer sale was more during the summer. The price range of Foreign liquor starts from between Rs 75 for 180 ML standard brand to rs 250 for 180 ml of premium brand.
The total revenue to the exchequer from sale of foreign liquor was Rs 2913.90 crore in 2007-08, an increase of Rs 488.41 crore than the previous year, he said.
