Kingfisher maker United Breweries cuts West Asia crisis impact estimate to ₹350-400 crore

Mumbai: United Breweries has lowered its estimate of the financial hit from the West Asia crisis after pushing through price increases in 22 states, as the country's biggest brewer implemented most of its recovery plan to offset soaring input and supply-chain costs.

The maker of Kingfisher beer said it now expects the conflict to shave ₹350-400 crore off its earnings this year, down from an earlier estimate of ₹400-500 crore, after rolling out price hikes averaging 2.5-3% along with other revenue management measures.

The brewer, however, cautioned that volatility linked to the West Asia conflict remains high and said it is too early to declare the worst of the cost pressures over.

"No one has a good understanding of the war and it will remain volatile, so we remain a bit cautious," managing director Vivek Gupta said in an earnings call.
