Beer back in Himachal country liquor stores
Beer drinkers in Himachal Pradesh can rejoice as the high court has lifted a ban on the sale of beer at stores that sell locally brewed liquor.
Under that law, beer was only available at Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) vends which are fewer in number compared to stores selling locally brewed liquor that dot every nook and corner of the hill state.
This upset beer drinkers and liquor merchants, and a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Himachal Pradesh High Court against the new policy.
Last week, the court directed the government overturned the new law on the issue of beer sale.
