The prices of liquor are expected to rise by 7-12 per cent. The new prices will come into effect from July 1. MGR will be additional over license fee and VAT.
According to officials in the Excise department MGR will be paid quarters wise. The MGR will be fixed by the Excise Commissioner after getting approval from the State government.
In another amendment, the government brought in a clause under which ‘On’ licensees can sell sealed bottles of minimum 750 ml and cannot keep bottles of lower capacity.
