Anheuser-Busch InBev (Ab InBev), the world's biggest beer company, headquartered in Belgium, has offered to invest Rs 400 crore to expand its brewery operations in Karnataka, a statement from the state industries department said.

Ab InBev India & South Asia President Kartikeya Sharma and Budweiser APAC chief legal and corporate affairs officer Craig Katerberg shared the information in a meeting with Industries Minister MB Patil at the World Economic Forum, Davos.

The top executives told the minister that they find Karnataka to be the ideal location for expanding their company’s operations.


Bengaluru is home to the India headquarters of the brewer which boasts of more than 500 global and local beer brands. The company operates a modern brewery in Mysuru and a global capability centre in Whitefield, where 5,000 professionals work on Digital capabilities, Big Data, AI, and global supply chain excellence.


In India, the contribution of premium brands increased to two-third of its total sales compared to a third over three years ago. The brewer has also been focussing on products beyond beer and has launched energy drinks, whiskey, spiced rum, vodka and, more recently, gin in its portfolio.
