Zara talking to potential partners
European fashion clothing giant Zara appears to have revived interest in the Indian market, targeting a possible first store opening by 2010, sources said.
The names of other rumoured suitors include Pantaloon Retail, DLF and Reliance Brands. Sources said zara has not yet firmed up India strategy, but it is not ruling out a domestic footprint in the next 2-3 years at the same time.
Zara, which prides itself in locating stores at some of the worlds busiest and high-end retail spots, operates in 70 countries with over 1,400 stores. However, it is still not a big player in China and has not entered the other bigger retail markets in the region like Taiwan.
