Vastra 2012: Deals worth $ 58 million struck at textile fair

JAIPUR: Deals worth an estimated $ 58 million were struck at an international textile and apparel fair ' Vastra 2012' which ended here today.

"The figure is expected to rise as there was a record 3,128 business-to-business sessions where serious discussions took place," Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO) MD Naveen Mahajan said.

"It has been a good beginning and we have to think about how to take the gains forward," Principal Secretary, Industries, Sunil Arora said.

Acknowledging that the response from textile communities was overwhelming, he set a target of $ 750-1,000 million in future.

Over 360 buyers from 61 countries participated in fair, which would now be organised annually. Business fashion shows were also organised during the event.
