RIL bullish on textiles, Vimal to grow in leaps & bounds

Mukesh Ambani-controlled Reliance Industries (RIL) today said it targets to grow the Vimal brand in leaps and bounds after its relaunch almost a decade later.

KOLKATA: Mukesh Ambani-controlled Reliance Industries (RIL) today said it targets to grow the Vimal brand in leaps and bounds after its relaunch almost a decade later.

"We want to grow the Vimal brand by 100 per cent year on year with new thrust on the new branding on 'Vimal.' In the next three years we want our division turnover to expand by three to four times of the current base," RIL President (textile business) Anand Parekh said here today.

He was here to launch the first premium exclusive Vimal outlet here.

With the textile and apparel sector in the country growing at CAGR of 20 per cent year-on-year, RIL has revived the brand and forayed into apparels from entry level to premium in three sub-brands -- Vimal Red, Vimal White and Vimal Black.

With Vimal Black being at the top end, the products are made with guidance of Italian fashion designer, Maurizio Bonas.

RIL opened 13 exclusive stores across 11 cities and would take the number to 25 in 23 cities by December this year.
