Karnataka government clears Himatsingka proposal to invest 1,325 crore along with seven other projects

This was one of the five greenfield projects the high-level committee headed by chief minister Siddaramaiah cleared on Wednesday.

BENGALURU: The State Government on Wednesday cleared a proposal from Bengaluru based home textile major Himatsingka Siede to invest 1,325 crore in Hassan to manufacture bed linen.
The firm has said the project will create 2,750 jobs. This was one of the five greenfield projects the high-level committee headed by chief minister Siddaramaiah cleared on Wednesday.

All the projects together promised an investment of 2,049 crore and 3,532 jobs.

The other projects are: Stelis Biopharma: anti-cancer and anti-arthritis drugs at Doddaballapur; Auric Industries: Biomass and solar power plant in Raichur district; Harsha Sugars: Sugar and power plant in Belgaum district; and Cheers Breweries: beer and other beverages in Mysore.

Besides the five greenfield projects, the high-level committee also cleared three expansion projects of sugar and cement industries worth 896 crore investments, and promising 1,186 jobs.

Meanwhile, the State Government is sending a team of 20 women entrepreneurs from Karnataka to participate in the three-day international conference and business fair at Austin, US from June 23.
