It's a winter of fusion & remix for designers
Brands have introduced fusion garments in their autumn collection to attract 18-25-year-olds. Fashion warms up to climate change
Where the contemporary woollen wear still includes sweaters and cardigans, companies are also coming up with what they call fusion or remix winterwear. Monte Carlo, for example, introduced its fusion wear this season, which includes a range of casuals and semi casuals, kurtis with neck and side slit details, and shawls.
To lend them the perfect look, the smart dresses are either painted, embroidered or beaded. “The collection has Indo-western silhouettes, fresh colours, and latest knitting technology maintaining harmony with the traditional surface ornamentation, to suit the Indian market requirements,” says executive director Monte Carlo Monica Oswal.
“The range at Monte Carlo starts from Rs 700 and goes up to Rs 2,000. Jackets and thermals may cost a little more. We also introduced pure Kashmere sweaters this season which range between Rs 4,500-Rs 6,000,” adds Ms Oswal.
If fusion is catching up, remix is not far behind. The clothes line, in fact, is even named Remix by Westside. The company’s Remix collection includes light-weight jackets, stylish kurtis, beaded stoles and full-length crinkle skirts with sequence embroideries, jackets with mirror and kantha work. “Winterwear these days is not just about sweaters and jackets.
A lot of experimentation is being done in terms of designs and fabrics. “We at Westside are also trying to offer trendiest winterwear by adding innovative designs and patterns. This season, we have started a range with lightweight sweaters, jackets & cardigans. We are keeping in mind frequent travelers and hence design very few heavy jackets,” adds Trent India marketing head Neeti Chopra.
