A resolution was adopted in this regard at the general council meeting of the INTUC's Puducherry unit here yesterday.

A release from the INTUC general secretary of the organisation, Sokkalingam said today that the government should also modernise these two mills in Puducherry so that more job opportunities could be created.

The wage structure for the workers in the mills should also be revised in keeping with the rise in cost of living. The government should also convene a high-level committee to discuss the labour issues in the textile mills.
