Gujarat Cotex plans diversification into edible oils, infra sectors

Gujarat Cotex has unveiled its strategic plans to broaden its business horizons. With the introduction of new divisions, the company is set to venture into both edible oils and infrastructure sectors.

Ahmedabad: Textiles firm Gujarat Cotex Ltd on Monday announced plans to diversify its business operations into edible oils and infrastructure by setting up two new business divisions - Prabhat Oils and Prabhat Infratech.

The move is part of the company's broader strategy to explore new revenue streams, build additional long-term business platforms, and enhance stakeholder value, according to a regulatory filing.

Under Prabhat Oils, the company plans to enter the edible and refined oils space. Operations will encompass trading, processing, refining, job work, and allied activities, leveraging the promoter group's experience and the brand goodwill of "Prabhat" to establish a scalable presence.

Prabhat Infratech will focus on the infrastructure and real estate sectors. The unit plans to undertake residential, commercial, and apartment development projects, primarily targeting Surat and emerging growth hubs such as Dholera Smart City based on commercial viability. PTI
