A fire broke out this afternoon at one of the units of textile manufacturer Alok Industries at Silvasa but no casualty or injuries have been reported so far.

NEW DELHI: A fire broke out this afternoon at one of the units of textile manufacturer Alok Industries at Silvasa but no casualty or injuries have been reported so far.

Company Chief Financial Officer Sunil Khandelwal told media that damage to property would be assessed once the fire was brought under control at its polyester yarn unit.

"Fire brigade along with the company's fire fighting resources were trying to contain the fire. There has been no casualty or injuries to workmen at the site," he said.

He said the company's plants were adequately insured for fire as well as loss of profit and the fire would not impact operations.

He said the unit had a capacity of 200 tonnes per day but declined to comment if the plant would be shut down completely for sometime.
