Fabindia announces entry in western wear market

NEW DELHI:Indian ethnic wear retailer Fabindia on Thursday announced its entry in the western wear market with the launch of UK���s EAST brand in the country. Fabindia in January this year picked up a 25% stake in the UK-based apparel retailer EAST with an option to acquire the remaining stake in three years.

Fabindia has opened the exclusive EAST store in Delhi, the first outside the UK market, and has plans to launch one more store in Delhi besides one each in Mumbai and Bangalore, by next month.

"To target the price sensitive market in India, we would sell products at half the prices compared to UK," EAST chairman, Clive Pettigrew said.
