Claim of yarn price increase far from truth, spinners
In the backdrop of Textile Ministry requesting spinners to come to the rescue of knitwear manufacturers , SISPA joined issue with them.
Terming the reports appearing in the press about the steep hike in the yearn prices as far from truth, SISPA president, K Thirunavukkarasu said that the cotton prices, which were Rs 35,000 per candy in February last, were now now Rs 42,000.
Besides, the 40 Carded Hosiery yarn was sold for Rs 196 per kg during February was at present sold for Rs 202, much below the prices of Rs 238 as claimed by Knitwear exporters.
The 44 count yarn used in Handloom sector was being sold at Rs 230 now now as against Rs 220 prevailed in February last, he claimed.
As compared to the increase of Rs 20 per kg of cotton, the yarn price increase was only by Rs.10 per kg, he said.
